«“El dulce lamentar de dos pastores”: apuntes sobre la felicidad en la poesía hispánica»
Abstract
H. Friedrich states in The Structure of Modern Poetry (1956) (Paris, Denoël-Gonthier, 1976 ; 17): "Poetry was an expression of suffering locked in a circle without any way out: in the verb, it hopes no longer find salvation, but only the possibility of nuance”. It is difficult, indeed, to talk about happiness in poetry, a literary genre closely linked, more than any other, to the exalted expression of sentiments. This approach would show, through some examples (Federico Garcia Lorca, Dámaso Alonso, Luis Cernuda, Ana Rossetti) how in modern and contemporary Spanish poetry, even when the first verses seem to lead us to a certain joy, the end of the text reveals us, often brutally, that the quest for happiness is illusory and insatiable. Moreover, it seems to be the condition for maintaining writing.
